Default Muzzy Whipser Core Test

I installed the Muzzy Whisper Core in my Rhino Muzzy exhaust today. Installation was a breeze, simply remove the two screws holding the end cap on, pull out the screen and quiet core then slip in the whisper core and screen then put the end cap back on.

If the Whisper core bottoms out before you get the flange portion all the way in the muffler you need to do one of two things. You need to loosen the clamps connecting the mufflers to the mid pipe and slide the mufflers forward. Depending on which Muzzy you have you may have loosen the muffler mounting brackets to slide the mufflers forward. What I did was cut off about 1/2" of the whisper core. What happens is the whisper core hits the mid-pipe that is slid into the other end of the muffler. I did it the lazy way.

On to the test.

FYI my tests are not too scientific just a redneck with db meter sitting in the drivers seat. I didn''t do a real test. I figured what the driver heard would be the most important.

At idle there was about a 3db difference and at wide open throttle (WOT) it popped up to a difference of 8db.

Don't put much stock in the db numbers. What I can tell you is the sound level at my ears was much lower. Didn't sound much different that what I remember a stock one to sound like.

As for as performance goes, take a look at the dyno chart below.

There was minor differences along the way of about 1 hp loss with the whisper cores but at around 53 mph it started dropping and by 57 mph it was about a 4 hp loss.

So at the end of the day if you think your Muzzy is too loud for Hunting or some other activity you can get the whisper cores that will pop in and out in about 5 min.
