Default 04-08 Rhino Power Steering

One of our forum members turned us onto the power steering unit for a Rhino from Uni-steer. Thanks, dbMachine!

I got the unit installed today. I will say it was packed extremely well and survived the treatment UPS gives all packages.

We have a installation video for it and you will find it on our install video page.

The unit went on fairly well, the written instructions were vague at times. Since I write instructions myself I know how hard it is to convey what you want to say when you are the one who made the item and are trying to explain it to someone who has never seen it before.

There is not really that much to say except it works!! It operates off a electric motor, no pumps. It is absolutely quiet, no noise at all. You can operate it without the engine running. Once you turn the key on the LED comes on for about 5 seconds and goes out, this is normal. After the light goes out the unit is ready for action.

I took the Rhino out to a gravel pile and put the front tires in a bind where I would have really had to put a lot of muscle to turn it, held pressure on the steering wheel and then turned the key on and waited for the light to go out. When the light went out, the steering wheel gave free. Steering back and forth in the gravel was little effort at all.

Next I took it on the pavement for some tight turns left and right, once again little to no effort. I tried turning it with one finger in the steering wheel but it was a little tough much for me.

Did a good bit of riding with and again all I can say is it works!!

Overall I am very happy with the kit and how it works. I am really glad we have it.

The power steering makes a great mod for anyone but for someone who has low upper body strength or has some kind of impairment it would be absolutely wonderful. I am 6ft. tall and 250lbs and I still like it!!

The only down side is the price of $995.00, I know this is pretty pricey but you have to think about what it cost in technology and the low number of units they would sell in a year. If they were making half million of them then the unit would be less than half but only selling maybe a 100 to 1000 units a year it just simply cost more.

Shootin Straight,
Todd
